Shaw River Buffalo Cheese Ceased Production Jan 2022


After 25 years, the Haldane family have ceased production at their Yambuk dairy.

Pioneers in both the agricultural and dairy industries, Roger & Sue Haldane introduced Riverine Buffalo to Australia in 1996 and were the first to supply the Australian market with handmade, farmhouse buffalo milk mozzarella. Their range grew to include buffalo milk yoghurt and semi hard cheeses, all made from 100% buffalo milk. The family’s commitment to quality, craft and consistency has been unwavering over the years, as has our friendship and distribution partnership.

The last few years have brought unprecedented challenges for many, including the Haldane’s who were already navigating a succession plan for their small family business. In recent months, as both personal and business challenges became insurmountable, the family decided it best to close the doors on their dairy for the last time. The final production late January is timed with the last of their packaging, as raw material shortages continue to loom.

The Haldane’s and Shaw River Buffalo Cheese team extend their gratitude to all who have supported them over the years.
